The Lame blog post

Okay, so I know I'm lame at this. I haven't worked on the game in a little while. Not actively anyway. I have done a little research, but nothing else really.

I thought that this blog might have motivated me to keep at it, but I lost steam somewhere and it hasn't come back around to this project yet.

So my apologies. On another note, I would like to wish everyone a happy holiday season.

Merry Xmas (and all other relevant holidays!) and Happy Game Year!

Blog Five: A peak and Working Title

So the game has a working title now! (excitement!) I shall now call it Drift. Named as such because the ship you are exploring is freely drifting through space.

A peak at some of the action: You hear a noise behind you, turning you see the lights flicker... Waking up on the floor of the airlock you realize. Those weren't the lights, they were your eyelids. Looking around you see all your companions. You must have all been attacked and moved here. When will this headache stop?

Or this could happen: The ship jerks, a terrible cracking sound reverberates throughout the whole ship. For a moment all the lights go out and the tempuerature begins to plumet. Yellow emergency lights come up, and your vision is restricted. All doors have shut and locked down.

These are only the narrations to go along with game occurences. But I'm hoping they set a tone.

Any thoughts?

Happy Gaming!

Blog Four: A peak at the races

All of this is a work in progress of course. The name of the different races may change, as well

as the stats, but this is what I've come up with so far.

Kernaw- Highly logical race, they are highly observant.  They know how to charm other races by studying their habits.  They have trouble sneaking though, as they tend to less aware of their bodies than other races.

(Logic-9; Physical-6; Energy-6; Charm-8; Sneak-3; Vision-6)

They get along with the Exeim the best, and the Gomin the least. Others often think of the Kernaw as arrogant.

Gomin- Inherently strong, Gomin spend almost no time in the gym, but can bench press almost any other race.  This high physical strength gives them a strong metabolism, so they can be rather energetic. During development, the chemicals that promote muscle building also inhibit brain development, so they are the least logical race, but with extra training a Gomin be taught how to think.

(Logic-3; Physical-9; Energy-8; Charm-6; Sneak-6; Vision-6)

They get along with the Cartis the best, and the Kernaw the least.

Trovet- The Trovets originated from a moon far from their dieing star.  They are the sneakiest race, and have the best low light vision.  With the low gravity of their moon, they evolved to be rather weak.  This makes their sneaking a necessity to survive.

(Logic-6; Physical-3; Energy-6; Charm-6; Sneak-9; Vision-8)

They have trouble trusting other races long enough to truly get along with or dislike them.

Exeim- The ultimate smooth talkers, they tend to observe other races, much like the Kernaw, but they have more of a gut instinct on how to deal with other races.  They tend to get their way and have become lazy as a people resulting in a lack of enthusiasm for most situations.

(Logic-8; Physical-6; Energy-3; Charm-9; Sneak-6; Vision-6)

Get along with the Kernaw the best, and the Trovet the least.

Cartis- The Cartis feed on high energy situations.  They love being all over the place since they have a lot of energy and quick reaction times.  Their constant fidgeting both gives them a high physical stat and makes them very annoying to the other races.  This results in a low charm, they don't care that everyone else tends to hate them.

(Logic-6; Physical-8; Energy-9; Charm-3; Sneak-6; Vision-6)

Get along with the Gomin the best, the Exeim the least, though most others tend to think the Cartis are obnoxious.

Blog 3: Stalled progress

I was at my friends' apartment during my previous post, and was working on the game during the day when my friends were both working. I have been home for a few days and not put much time into development.

I did work for 40 minutes or o on night. So that's good. But have not progressed much further than that. I guess I should pick a day to devote to the game.

Blog Two: Begining Developement

I spent several hours devoloping rules and mechanics yesterday. I introduced the ideas to two of my best friends and they had a lot of positive feed back and ideas to try.

When I have the chance I'm going to a craft store and getting supplies to create a working model. This will be easier said than done of course. But I have some exciting and doable (key word of course) ideas for the proto type.

One reason it is easier said than done is cash. I have a large cash fow issue currently. I'm unemployed (though that might change really soon) and between finding my wedding dress (getting married in about a year) and going to dragon con, my savings are underwheming for the moment.

I'm not complaining. If I was working right now, I would have less free time. So I'm just trying to enjoy that for once. This is the first real tim of from school I've ever had. So I'm trying to enjoy it.

I'm currently writing the first campain. I can't wait to get a prototype so I can test out logistics. I mean just because it looks good on paper, doesn't mean it plays well.

Game on and DFTBA,

Blog 1

I recently attened Dragon Con 2011, my fisrt con. I was inspired by the indie RPG panel.  This is the firstblog I've written in a long time, and the first that will be about something oter than just what's going through my head.

I have always loved board games, only started enjoying the rpg type recently. I once created a card game when I was probbly ten. I only wrote down the rules once though and so I have long since forgotten the game.

But now I'm creating my own RPG Board game. It has no title yet, but I'm sure I'll come up with a working title soon. The plan is to have most of the rules and mechanics hammered out by January when my semester off from school ends.

More to share soon, (likely the first thoughts on rules)
